LHBw expands its spectrum of tasks for the German armed forces
The Armed Forces awarded the order for the “Management of the personal ABC protective equipment and ABC clothing” by means of a tender procedure and the award went to the LHBw. Since 01st January 2009, we have been managing the articles involved and since July we have also taken over the supply.
In similar manner to the management of the clothing we have also taken over the management of the central storage at the depot in Kappel and carry out the task there with staff provided. For procurement law reasons, however, the local service may not be provided in our service stations and service points. Instead, this is carried out in the barracks by the LHBw using special vehicles (Mobile Service Points ABC). There, employees of the LHBw adjust the masks individually and issue the personal ABC articles to the soldiers and record this in the BAN ABC. Dates for initial issues and for refitting are coordinated with the units during standard clothing issue advance discussions. As a rule, exchanges are carried out via the provider and a parcel service. Clothing returns are carried out in the units; the LHBw then undertakes the return of the articles to Kappel. Since July, the ABC Mask M2000 has been available with a serial number so as to be able to follow the life cycle. Soldiers who received the M2000 prior to this will therefore receive a new serialized mask in exchange. The priorities in fitting out are specified by the various services and the coordination undertaken by the armed forces support command. Dates for refitting are coordinated with the suppliers of the units and made known there. In the course of this, a check is made of completeness of the ABC equipment – for this reason, this is to be brought to the refitting.
The LHBw has set up a central control position for orders and returns of ABC articles at Kappel.
Appointments and orders are to be effected in the units via the provider.
