Return of kit

The Armed Forces only supply soldiers with their free kit for their time of service. It must be returned in full at the end of their service. However, on hygienic or orthopaedic grounds, the following items need not be returned:

• battle shoes
• indoor and outdoor sports shoes
• bathing sandals
• socks
• underwear, olive
• underwear, white
• handkerchiefs

Any missing items will be treated as a loss by the Armed Forces and must be recorded and processed by units. Thus units must check that kit is complete before returning it to LHBw. Then it will be packed in accordance with a standard packing plan. The actual return is handled in the LHBw service stations and can be completed within a few minutes. After completion, the items returned will be entered in the soldier’s personal clothing account.
